Here's a bunch of pictures I found on various blogs that inspire me. I would love to be able to give my home that kind of ambiance and style.

If you have the National Geographic Channel on TV, I highly recommend you watch this travel/food show. It is extremely interesting and reminds me of Anthony Bourdain's No Reservation (which I also love). I have always thought that you can learn a lot about a country's history, politics, and geography by analyzing its food culture and this show does that. It is very well-made and educational. Here's a short description from the NGC website:

From spicy biryani in South India and bustling farmers markets in Mexico, to soy sauce factories in Hong Kong, self-professed food lovers across the globe are bursting with new culinary tales to share. With the breadth of international travel combined with a passion for food, Food Lover's Guide to the Planet delivers a unique cultural look at the world; it is a complete food fair. The series dives into the diverse realm of the world's greatest cuisine, from New Zealand's purest honey to Italy's famous Parmigiano Reggiano. Infused with "green" elements, the delicious series reveals examples of sustainable farming and fishing, as well as new efforts to cultivate organic dairy, meat, and plant products.

And here's a short montage I found on YouTube of the different subjects the show covers:

And it gets even better. I found a scene from the movie 500 Days of Summer on YouTube that has a choreography to this song. I HAVE to see that movie:

I just thought I'd share with you a picture I took tonight (not in 1985!) of the guy who does the 6:00pm news on one of the biggest TV channels in Sweden.

Indian Feast

I had been meaning to try a few recipes from this cookbook for a while now and last night I finally gathered the energy to cook up an Indian feast.  I made three dishes from the book that I served with store-bought coriander and garlic Naan breads. It was amazing! Plus it didn't take that much time to make, most ingredients were cheap, and it was really healthy. We will definitely be having more Indian feasts in the near future.

Here's the cookbook in question:

I highly recommend this cookbook. And all the other books from the same collection as a matter of fact. 'The Food of Morocco' is on my Christmas wish list. Just saying...

So I've made:

* Creamy Prawn Curry: a sweet coconut-based shrimp curry made with onions, garlic and spices like clove, cinnamon, cardamom, and turmeric.

* Chole Chaat: A mashed chickpea stew made with tomatoes, onions, and spices like coriander, turmeric, garam masala, and cumin.

* Rice Pulao: I did not follow an exact recipe for this one but used the recommendations from the Rice & Grain section of the book.

Really?

While we were finishing a bottle of bubbles last night, my husband noticed an unusual warning on the back of the bottle. We thought it was hilarious that someone felt the need to add that kind warning on a bottle of alcohol.

It didn't rain this moring when I woke up (first time in about a month!) so I decided to go for a short walk and take a few pictures of the sunrise.
